A private family archive

Privacy

The controller of your personal data is Gradingly Limited, whose postal address is Gradingly Office, Lavant House, West Lavant, PO18 9AB, United Kingdom. Contact: support@rodzinka.life

We process data to:

  • provide your account and the family archive, including the AI features you use (such as turning your recordings into text, also live) – under our contract with you (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR);
  • keep in the family archive data about other living people (e.g. names, dates, photos, recordings, an invitee's email address) that family members add, and send invitations from family members – in the family's legitimate interests in keeping its history and inviting relatives (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR);
  • protect the service against abuse and viruses – in our legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR);
  • send service emails – under our contract with you (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR);
  • keep in the family archive a recording or memory that a person with no account added through an invitation, and pass it to external AI tools – with that person's consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).

Providing an email address is a condition of creating an account.

Members of the family archive can see what you add. We also share data with the providers we use for hosting and data storage, email, signing in through other services (if you choose to) and AI tools – for example, to turn recordings into text, read documents, restore photos, paint pictures and work with text.

The owner, or a person who helps manage the family, can share an album through a view-only link: anyone who receives it and any required code can see the shared photos without an account until the link expires or is revoked. These pages use no cookies or tracking; we keep only a view count and the time of the last view.

We also process data in the United Kingdom, under a European Commission adequacy decision. Some of these providers process data outside the European Economic Area, including in the USA, under a European Commission adequacy decision (the EU-US Data Privacy Framework) or standard contractual clauses. If you write to support@rodzinka.life, we will send you a copy of these safeguards.

We keep data while the account or the family archive exists, or until we delete the data on request. Backups are kept as long as they are needed to restore the service after a failure, so deleted data may remain in them.

You have the right to access your data, to have it rectified or erased, to have its processing restricted, to have it transferred and to object to its processing. You can withdraw consent at any time without affecting earlier processing. To do any of this, write to support@rodzinka.life. You can also lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority, the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (UODO).

To delete your account and your data, write to support@rodzinka.life from the email address you use with Rodzinka.

When you sign in with Google, we use only your name, email address and account identifier, and only to sign you in and create your account. We store them with your account and share them only with the members of the family archive and the providers listed above.

We use only essential cookies – for signing in and security, not for ads or for tracking you across other sites. Your browser also stores other data on your device, such as your settings and unsent recordings.

YouTube videos on people's pages load only after you press “Play”; YouTube (Google) may then store its own data in your browser.

Statistics We count visits to public pages (the home page, help, the terms, signing in) anonymously: without cookies, without storing your IP address and without a visitor identifier – only the total number of visits to each page on each day, where they came from (for example a search engine or campaign) and whether from a phone. We do not count signed-in pages. When someone starts a family, we save the campaign labels used (source, medium, campaign, content and term) with the signup request so we can assess in aggregate which campaigns lead to active families. During the Google or Facebook transition, those labels are kept briefly in the essential cookie that runs the sign-in flow; we do not send them to Google or Meta. We use no third-party advertising tags. When the browser sends Global Privacy Control or an operator enables the setting that excludes their own visits, we save neither visits nor campaign attribution. To improve Rodzinka, we also check, in aggregate, how many families take each next step (for example a first photo, inviting a relative) – from data we already store, without tracking you across other sites.
